VPI Facilities

VPI Engineering is located in Draper, Utah, about 20 minutes south of the Salt Lake City International Airport.

Our building space is composed of 11,000 square feet of development laboratories and office space.

Labs

VPI's primary electrical engineering lab includes 15 project work stations, oscilloscopes, digital multi-meters, logic analyzer, spectrum analyzer, solder equipment, full compliment of hand tools, printed circuit board prototyping, a BGA (Ball Grid Array) x-ray inspection machine, PCB rework equipment, microscopes, and inspection equipment. BGA assembly and x-ray inspection are also included in our capabilities matrix.

VPI Engineering’s secondary electrical engineering lab includes 6 project work stations, inventory cabinets and racks, and is used for assembly, testing, and rework. A vacuum chamber is also housed in the lab for use in the prototype and production of components requiring humidity and clean environment control.

A mechanical lab contains equipment for developing prototypes and mechanical models. The lab is equipped with hand-operated power tools, numerous non-power tools, and a numerically controlled milling machine.

RF Chamber

Intentional and unintentional emissions of RF (Radio Frequency) signals are tested in VPI's RF chamber. Our copper-clad chamber shields prototype electronics from outside RF noise and allows our engineers to pre-scan prototypes for potential problematic RF emissions and perform troubleshooting before managing the FCC (Federal Communications Commission) emissions certification process at a certification facility.

Partnership with Outside Firms

VPI compliments the skill set of its staff by partnering with multiple outside firms. Specialized equipment used for machining, testing, and unique manufacturing equipment is utilized by our engineering staff at various offsite facilities.
